MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART CLEVELAND
FURNITURE DESIGN COMPETITION
Design Brief:
Create a design solution for the Cahoon Lounge that encourages MOCA visitors to linger longer and spend more time in this space.
This project was designed to keep the functionality of the space in mind and provide different arrangements to fit the needs of the different events that occur there. The space in question is a lounge area right outside of the museum’s main gallery and is used to host art openings, shows, fundraisers and is used as a seating area for most of the week. I designed the furniture to have multiple different configurations and functionality. The main configurations that I focused on were central seating, tete-a-tete (a conversation setting), and a bench.
